AGU member since 1984. Current research focuses on extreme events and climate. Past research on global ocean carbon cycle, germanium’s geochemical cycle, ocean particle cycling. Interested in transforming science into a form that is understandable and useable. On the Board of Advisory Editors for the Oxford Research Review of Natural Hazard Science. Co-founder of several companies that developed catastrophe risk models and other tools for assessing and managing risk. Past positions include Director, Developer Relations at Risk Management Solutions, Senior Research Scientist at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, Program Manager for the Risk Prediction Initiative (RPI), and Research Staff at Princeton University’s Program in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. Ph.D. in Geological and Geophysical Sciences from Princeton University.
