Data Management Assessment Advisory Board

This committee provides guidance and recommendations to AGU’s data programs including Data Management Assessments.  Members share with their communities and peers AGU’s efforts in these areas as is relevant. The Data Management Assessment Advisory Board reports to the Board of Directors.

Charge
Provide overall guidance on the AGU data management assessment program and other related AGU efforts around open data aimed at fulfilling the spirit of AGU’s data position statement.  Guide and assist in increasing awareness, education, and adoption of the best practices and other complementary practices specific to Earth and space science data domains. Provide insight and expertise for the administration of Data Management Assessments geared towards Earth and space sciences to help improve data management operations in repositories and to determine the level of adoption across the community. Provide insight and expertise in communicating the importance of data complying with the FAIR Guidelines and best ways to support the community understanding of best practices for implementation.

  • Provide input on materials and guidance documents to assist in the awareness and implementation of data management best practices.
  • Provide input on methods to promote FAIR Data.
  • Provide input on methods to promote Best Practices for Repositories.

Annual Calendar

This committee meets for one day at AGU headquarters annually and virtually throughout the year as needed.
